About the Authors
Erika Celeste is an award-winning journalist with 25 years experience in non-fiction. Among her many accolades, she has collected two Telly Awards and been Emmy nominated twice. She was the field reporter and key contributor for Coal: Dirty Past, Hazy Future an NPR documentary and 2011 Edward R. Murrow Award winner. In 2012, she served as a fellow with the Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources.
Since 1999, she has contributed more than 200 features on Americana to Voice of America. She also contributes to NPR and Marketplace. She began her career as a television news reporter and weather caster, and has worked for ABC, CBS, NBC as well as CNN and PBS. She graduated from Indiana State University in 1994 with a B.S. in Theater and Communications.
John Sesay, co-author of A Lion Has no Horns, shared his story of overcoming the normal obstacles of leaving his North Africa homeland and immigrating to the United States, falling into the clutches of a human trafficker, extricating himself and then turning to the authorities and finally the immigration people who directed him to citizenship.
